Review for Toll of Shadows

Greetings and salutations my friends!

Toll of Shadows has been out for awhile now, and I’ve had good fun meeting new fans and traveling about the Indianapolis region to sell and promote my work. I’ve gotten some good reviews, thank you! I would like to share one that was posted recently on amazon by Mr. David Childers. ┬áIt brought a big smile to my face. I hope all is well!

Toll of Shadows is an eclectic, enjoyable collection of short stories. Epple’s stories traverse many genres and themes, each with a compelling idea or twist. There are elements of horror, sci-fi, and fantasy, but not all of his tales delve into the supernatural. Some are haunting simply because of their sad representation of the human condition. These varied themes and ideas put you in the mind of The Twilight Zone. But Epple’s effort at darkness doesn’t seem manufactured. His characters are developed and have an identity and humor about them. It seems that many writers are willing to sacrifice story and plot to advance shock value, but Epple emphasizes intricate storytelling which allows his “shocks” to seem more authentic and unexpected. I highly recommend this book.
